Returning to Calm Workshop

  • Austin Doula Care 8500 Shoal Creek, Bldg 4 #107 Austin, TX, 78759 United States (map)

In our communities, we understand that healing is never just physical — and never just emotional. The body, heart, and nervous system are deeply connected.

During this gathering, we’ll explore how the pelvic floor and nervous system work together through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Stress, birth experiences, lack of rest, and the emotional load of parenting can all settle into the body — especially in the pelvic bowl and core foundation.

Together, we will explore:

  • How pregnancy and birth impact the pelvic floor and core support system

  • Why common experiences like leaking, pressure, heaviness, or discomfort are common — and often very treatable

  • How stress and overwhelm influence muscle tension and recovery

  • Gentle, practical ways families can support healing at home

  • When and how to seek additional support without shame

We will also demonstrate simple rebozo-inspired practices for self-care and nervous system regulation — traditional techniques that help the body feel supported, grounded, and safe.

This is a space for questions, shared wisdom, and learning together — where evidence-based education and traditional practices are honored side by side.

All families in the pregnancy and postpartum journey — expecting, newly parenting, or preparing for the future — are welcome.

Brought to you by:

Teresa Martinez, LMT/Bodyworker, Doula & Healing Arts Practitioner - Teresa's' roots begin in central Mexico, where the women in her family practiced as curanderas—healers tending the body, mind, and spirit with prayer and intention. She carries this lineage into her practice. This work is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and receive. Through massage bodywork, Rebozo Therapy, and energy-based modalities, Teresa offers ritual-informed care that helps the body soften, the nervous system settle, and inner wisdom to remember how to heal.

Diana Theodore, Occupational Therapist, focuses on how recovery impacts daily life, relationships, and confidence, empowering families with knowledge.
