My name is Darrian Dowden. I am a certified birth doula through BEST Doula, and my training was completed in June 2024. I was born in Omaha and raised between Nebraska and the Austin area.  My approach to doula care is rooted in informed choices, holistic care, empowerment, and reproductive and racial justice. Every birthing person deserves informed, unbiased, and respectful support throughout their journey. I strive to create a nurturing and affirming space for all families. 

As a child, I was always mystified by the way birthing people's bodies grew and made space for their children, and my curiosity and wonder about how they entered this world. I thought about becoming a nurse or even an OBGYN, but those roles did not call to me in the way that I knew I needed to serve until I discovered the role of a doula. My role as your doula will be getting to know your goals and fears around birthing while empowering you to make the evidence-based decisions to foster the desired experience. I am committed to walking alongside you in this sacred journey with care, knowledge, and unwavering support.
