Kim Borchert (she/her)
Birth & Postpartum Doula (DTI), Childbirth Mentor (BFW), Lactation Counselor, IBCLC Intern, Administrator
Co-Founder, Austin Doula Care

Kim is the mother to six children, and since the birth of her first child in 2002, she has been passionate about birth and supporting birthing and postpartum individuals and their families. In 2015, she completed her doula training through Doula Trainings International (DTI) and in 2020 became a Certified Childbirth Mentor with Birthing from Within. She has just completed all coursework and clinical hours to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant through University of California San Diego’s Pathway 2 IBCLC Program. She will sit for her board exam in September 2026!

Throughout her years as a doula and childbirth mentor, Kim has supported hundreds of families as they navigate all the ways babies come into this world. As she is transitioning out of full-time birth doula work, her heart is still led toward mentoring families as they prepare for birth and parenthood, holding space for new parents as they navigate postpartum, and helping families learn how to feed their babies and feel supported in the process.

In addition to her other skills and passions, Kim has experience helping parents as they navigate the rocky waters of grief. Whether through the loss of a pregnancy, child, or other family member, she is very skilled at supporting and honoring that grief.

You can find her these days doing Austin Doula Care administration tasks, teaching Birthing from Within, VBAC Prep, Feeding Your Baby, facilitating our WTF is This? Postpartum Support Group, and working with It’s More Than Milk as Lactation Counselor as she waits to take her IBCLC board examination.

When not working, you can find Kim on the sidelines of a soccer game (her kids), watching a kids theater performance, doing pottery, lifting heavy things, or dreaming of her next visit to a body of water.
