Lauren Jackolyn (she/they)
Birth & Postpartum Doula (Cornerstone)

Hi y'all! Lauren here. Sending warmth and steadiness through this digital stratosphere.

Been doula-ing since late 2022, and started that journey slowly and sweetly. I'm a full spectrum Cornerstone trained doula, but I primarily focus on birth support. I began supporting births through GALS, a local non-profit, as I trained with Cornerstone. Around the same time I stepped into birthwork, I also began working part-time for a local mushroom farm doing their farmers markets.

Over the years, birthwork and food work combined, as I saw a need for intentional food support for birthing folx in their postpartum periods. Doula-ing with GALS, my signature final postpartum visit with clients began to look like getting in their kitchens, and leaving folx nourished and loved on with slow food.

My guiding principles are trusting, informing, witnessing, and affirming. I trust you, your body, your baby, and your process. I seek to provide information, tools for self-advocacy, and frameworks for informed consent. I witness with steady presence - you, your journey, your power. I take care of myself to bring a grounded and steady presence into the birth space. And I affirm - feelings, experiences, choices, preferences, wisdom.

Birthwork deeply feels like a calling. It feels natural. It's work that doesn't feel like work to me. For me, it combines all selves and aspects - social, political, physical, emotional, and spiritual. It's my small big small way of endeavoring to change the world. Better supported births, better postpartums, better family dynamics, better worlds. Or something like that.

My "outside of birthwork" world mirrors my birthwork world - my north stars are bodies, birth, food, and play. I have a somatic movement practice, I make slow soups, I love my cat, I pay attention to the seasons and drive out to the country to watch shooting stars, I'm questioning (heteronormativity, mononormativity, capitalism - to name a few), I learn my neighborhood birds, I soak in salty baths, I surround myself with color, I yap and deep dive, I move and groove.
